South African Board XI v Pakistan 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Port Elizabeth

Pakistan began their 1st innings with the pitch uneven, seeking some batting practive from the remaining time, with a postive result all but impossible without a forfeiture of innings.
Shoaib Mohammad and Inzamam-ul-Haq played well early before throwing away starts, and it was left to the experienced Javed Miandad to show the others how it was done in difficult batting conditions.
Javed moved serenely to 99* not out, after at one stage threatening to run out of partners, before playing across the line to left arm spinner Strydom and being bowled 1 short of a century.
A clearly frustrated Javed immediately declared, giving time for Waqar to take another early wicket, before the Board XI batted out time.
Thunderstorms had been the decisive factor in a contest that was marked by excellent bowling from both sides, lit up by the strokeplay of the inimitable Javed, who was named Man of the Match.
