Indian Board XI v West Indies A - 50 over List A match 1991/2 - Nagpur
Pitch: 5 - Normal
Weather: 2 - Hot and sunny
Toss: Indian Board XI
The Indian Board XI won the toss and elected to bat first, and though they lost a couple of early wickets, Gandhi and Gursharan repaired the damage in a 145 run stand at close to a run a ball.
Gandhi was unluckily out for a well paced 97, while Gursharan continued his good form with a quickfire 69.
Though late wickets to the spinners prevented the final charge getting out of hand, 36 to Bharadwaj and 20 to Dighe ensured the home team posted a hefty total of 261/9 off 50 overs.
West Indies A needed a good start, and the openers provided it, but when both fell after making starts the middle order stalled against the spinners.
Medium pacer Paris Mhambrey was benefitted from this pressure as the later batsmen hit out, claiming 4-23, while most of the spinners were hard to get away.
51 off 48 balls by Floyd Reifer entertained the crowd for a while, but by then it was too little too late, the Indian Board XI's good batting having set up an easy 80 run victory.
Man of the Match went to Devang Gandhi for his excellent innings which set up a match winning total.
The two teams now face off in a T20 match, before West Indies A take on the Indian Board President's XI in a 3 day match.

South Africa A v Pakistan - 50 over List A match 1991/2 - Match Report
South Africa A v Pakistan - 50 over List A match 1991/2 - Cape Town
Pitch: 5 - Normal
Weather: 2 - Hot and Sunny
Toss: Pakistan
Pakistan won the toss, and with pitch conditions Normal, elected to bat.
They lost their openers cheaply in a tight start from the home side's seamers, but a 157 run partnership for the 3rd wicket between Shoaib Mohammad and Saleem Malik set up a strong total.
Shoaib made 71, while Saleem was more aggressive in making 85.
Wasim Akram chipped in with a hard hitting 26* off 17 balls at the end to lift the total to 236/8 off 50 overs.
Clive Eksteen took 3-34 in a steady spell of left arm spin, but the attack was generally disappointing on a pitch which allowed them some assistance.
Pakistan would have been well pleased with their eventual total given their poor start, but it left the door open for South Africa A to achieve some revenge for defeat in the 3 day match.
A superb spell from Wasim Akram allowed the home team no chance, the left arm paceman claiming 4-19 from 10 tight overs of excellent swing bowling.
Though Rushmere made 47, and a few others made starts, the South Africa A batsmen all struggled to score at the required rate against an accurate and varied attack.
A late crash of wickets left Pakistan convincing winners by 97 runs, a match set up by the batsman, but finished off by the speed and swing of Wasim and the other bowlers.
Man of the Match was Wasim Akram, his late hitting ensuring a good total, and his bowling ensuring there would be only one result.

Veteran of a number of International tours, batsman Asif Mujtaba was named captain, and will be hoping for a big tour to put his name in contention for a World Cup berth.
The squad looks particularly strong in spin bowling, with offspinners Saqlain Mushtaq and Arshad Khan supported by slow left armer Shakeel Ahmed snr.
Allrounders Naved Anjum and Manzoor Elahi lend the squad balance, while 4 specialist seamers make up the attack.
The batting lacks experience, with veteran Rizwan-uz-Zaman by far the most capped at International level.
It should be an interesting tour for the Pakistan A side, with the young Australian sides they are set to come up particularly strong in batting, but lacking a class bowler or two.

AUSTRALIA
The Adelaide Oval can be expected to produce plenty of runs but often the wicket is slow paced and there is sometimes just a little in it for the spinners on the final day. Melbourne often offers early help for the quickies and tends to break up late in the match, in between there are plenty of runs to be had. Sydney may offer some help to the spinners, sometimes as early as day 3, but more often late in the match. Some wickets prepared here however, are easy paced (with low bounce occasionally) and favour the batsmen throughout. At Perth you can expect early help for the quickies but thereafter the batsmen tend to find life fairly easy. The Woolloongabba in Brisbane can help the fast bowlers early on and the spinners on the last day or two, but the wicket can also be easy paced so team selection here poses a problem. Hobart is usually good for the batsmen early on but often the spinners begin to find some help by day 4 or 5 and the wicket also has the tendency to break up late in the match.

Perth plays host to the first game of the Pakistan A tour of Australia in 1991/2

Pitch: 62
Toss: West Indies
West Indies achieved a comprehensive 10 wicket victory over a disappointing Sri Lanka A lineup midway through day 3, on a pitch which turned, but otherwise was not difficult to bat on.
A century to Brian Lara, and fifties to Richardson and Adams set up a strong 1st innings for the visitors, a position of strength they never surrendered.
Lead by Curtly Ambrose with match figures of 7-39, the West Indies kept the young Sri Lankan batsmen under pressure throughout with an excellent all round bowling and fielding effort.
There were few positives for the home side, while all of the West Indies players found some form in a perfect beginning to their tour.

Sri Lanka A didn't fare much better in their 2nd innings, only just avoiding an innings defeat.
Captain Hashan Tillakaratne hung around for a while in making 44, but with Ambrose taking 4-18 and Walsh 3-34 it was one way traffic.
Desmond Haynes duly polished off runs required for a 10 wicket victory in Labrooy's 1st over, giving the West Indies a comprehensive win in their 1st match of the tour.
Man of the Match was Brian Lara, his aggressive first day century having given the West Indies an early advantage they never let slip.

Sri Lanka A v West Indies - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Sri Lanka A 1st Innings
Sri Lanka A v West Indies - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Premadasa Stadium Colombo
Sri Lanka A began their reply badly, as the West Indies pace bowlers took early wickets.
With the support bowlers also making regular breakthroughs, Sri Lanka A were forced to follow on 173 runs behind.
The ease with which the batsmen lost their wickets to the lesser bowlers was particularly disappointing for the home team, but the West Indies deserved praise for an excellent allround bowling and fielding effort.
Ambrose lead the way with 3 wickets, but the others were not far behind him, and it was the perfect hit out for the visitors before the ODI and Test series begins,
With most of their batsmen spending time in the middle in the 1st innings, West Indies elected to enforce the follow on and chase victory rather than opt for more batting practice.

Sri Lanka A v West Indies - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Premadasa Stadium Colombo
West Indies won the toss and batted first on a pitch expected to help the spinners more as the match progressed.
All their batsmen spent time in the middle against a lacklustre attack, with young superstar Brian Lara leading the way with an entertaining century.
With captain Richardson, and middle order batsman Jimmy Adams also passing 50, West Indies scored quickly and declared about an hour before Stumps on Day 1 with the score at 320/6.
Labrooy was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers in a mostly disappointing effort by the home side, but the star of the day was Lara.
His battle with young spinner Muralitharan was particularly entertaining, a contest that would come to symbolise contests between the two sides throughout the 90's.
