Sri Lanka A v West Indies - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - West Indies 1st Innings

Sri Lanka A v West Indies - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Premadasa Stadium Colombo

West Indies won the toss and batted first on a pitch expected to help the spinners more as the match progressed.
All their batsmen spent time in the middle against a lacklustre attack, with young superstar Brian Lara leading the way with an entertaining century.
With captain Richardson, and middle order batsman Jimmy Adams also passing 50, West Indies scored quickly and declared about an hour before Stumps on Day 1 with the score at 320/6.
Labrooy was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers in a mostly disappointing effort by the home side, but the star of the day was Lara.
His battle with young spinner Muralitharan was particularly entertaining, a contest that would come to symbolise contests between the two sides throughout the 90's.
