Pitch: 5 - Normal
Weather: 2 - Hot and Sunny
Toss: Pakistan
Pakistan won the toss, and with pitch conditions Normal, elected to bat.
They lost their openers cheaply in a tight start from the home side's seamers, but a 157 run partnership for the 3rd wicket between Shoaib Mohammad and Saleem Malik set up a strong total.
Shoaib made 71, while Saleem was more aggressive in making 85.
Wasim Akram chipped in with a hard hitting 26* off 17 balls at the end to lift the total to 236/8 off 50 overs.
Clive Eksteen took 3-34 in a steady spell of left arm spin, but the attack was generally disappointing on a pitch which allowed them some assistance.
Pakistan would have been well pleased with their eventual total given their poor start, but it left the door open for South Africa A to achieve some revenge for defeat in the 3 day match.
A superb spell from Wasim Akram allowed the home team no chance, the left arm paceman claiming 4-19 from 10 tight overs of excellent swing bowling.
Though Rushmere made 47, and a few others made starts, the South Africa A batsmen all struggled to score at the required rate against an accurate and varied attack.
A late crash of wickets left Pakistan convincing winners by 97 runs, a match set up by the batsman, but finished off by the speed and swing of Wasim and the other bowlers.
Man of the Match was Wasim Akram, his late hitting ensuring a good total, and his bowling ensuring there would be only one result.
Pakistan won by 97 runs
