West Indies appeared to be cruising to victory in chase of 155 while Haynes and Simmons were adding 48, before a dramatic intervention by offspinner Warnaweera turned the match on it's head.
Claiming 5-5 in his first 4 overs, Warnaweera nearly earned the SLC XI a remarkable victory, before bad light brought an end to the match for a relieved West Indies side.
Again their bench batting looked suspect, with Warnaweera picking up his 2nd five wicket haul of the match to all but make certain his Test spot.
The SLC XI offspinner was duly named Man of the Match, and scored important psychological points in the last 3 day First Class before the Test series.
