India A v West Indies A - 1st Unofficial 4 day Test 1991/2 - Match Summary

India A v West Indies A - 1st Unofficial 4 day Test 1991/2 - Calcutta

Pitch: 22

Toss: West Indies A

Winning the toss and electing to bat on what was a Normal wicket at the time, but would favour spin late in the match, West Indies A piled on the runs.
With everyone making starts, and newly promoted captain Dawnley Joseph making 111, West Indies A cruised to 372/8.
An unbroken 128* run partnership for the 9th wicket between bowlers Perry 77*, and Rose 50*, compounded India A frustrations, taking the score past 500 before the visitors declared.
When India A batted, they found themselves in danger of failing to avoid the follow on at 119/4, before a double century partnership between Gursharan Singh and keeper Nayan Mongia changed the game.
Gursharan continued his magnificent form with 143, while Mongia made the most important runs of his career so far in making 113.
Nehemiah Perry showed impressive stamina and patience in taking 5 wickets for the visitors.
With little time left to force a result, West Indies A and India A's batsmen played out time, with the India A spinners impressing in an improved effort in the short time left.
The match was drawn eventually, with Man of the Match being West Indies A's offspinner Nehemiah Perry for his match double of 77* and 5-167.
