India Masters XI v West Indies A - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Match Summary

India Masters XI v West Indies A - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Calcutta

Pitch: 33

Toss: Indian Masters XI

An experienced Indian Masters XI containing some ageing stars retired from international level, but still active at domestic level, troubled a West Indies A side throughout an ulitmately drawn match.
Raman Lamba impressed in a Man of the Match double of 106 and 71*, while Yashpal Sharma also scored an unbeaten century, meaning the home side were always on top.
Kapil Dev took 5-49 for the home side, leading by example, to give his side a big first innings lead, after earlier a hard hitting century by opener Stuart Williams had kept the visitors in with a chance of first innings parity.
With time running out, the home side set the visitors 238 to win in 4 hours on a wearing pitch.
Some solid but slow batting by the top order saw West Indies A play out time, achieving their 6th draw in 6 three day first class tour games.
