Zimbabwe Board XI v England A - T20 match 1991/2 - Match Report

Zimbabwe Board XI v England A - T20 match 1991/2 - Bulawayo

Pitch: 2 - Good batting wicket

Weather: 5 - Sunny, some cloud about

Toss: Zimbabwe Board XI

The home side won the toss, and elected to bat on a good batting wicket expected to take the sting out of most of the bowling.
Ali Shah made a brilliant unbeaten 94*, propelling Zimbabwe Board XI to what seemed like a matchwinning total of 186/2 off 20 overs.
Apart from Paul Taylor with 2 wickets, the England A attack again struggled in what is turning out to be a difficult tour for them.
When England A replied, their openers got them off to an excellent start, raising 61 inside 6 overs, and the chase was on.
Captain Barnett carried on to a magnificent 97, but when he was out with 23 required from 1.3 overs, the later batsmen could not maintain the rate.
Defeat by an eventual margin of 14 runs was disappointing for England A, and left them winless after 3 games on tour.
Man of the Match was Ali Shah, for his bowling as much as his batting, as he toook 3-16 from 4 miserly overs to snuff out the visitors chase, after making an unbeaten 94* with the bat.
