New Zealand A v England - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - New Zealand A 1st Innings

New Zealand A v England - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Dunedin

Toss: England

England won the toss, and with bounce expected to be Uneven for at least the 1st session, elected to bowl first.
It immediately paid dividends, with opening bowlers Malcolm and Lawrence dismissing the openers for ducks.
Greatbatch 40 and Rutherford dug in for a while, the captain steadying the innings with a solid 59.
Thomson 79* took over upon his dismissal, adding important runs with Sua 49 to take New Zealand A to a solid first innings total.
Gooch picked up 3-13, but the opening bowlers and offspinner Emburey did most of the work in dismissing the home team for a moderate score.
Having chewed up a lot of time with their innings after wanting to make the most of decent batting conditions on a pitch which flattened out, New Zealand A probably require a monumental England collapse to obtain victory.
